DESCRIPTION:The video premiere of Grey Grant’s “Michigan Trees: A Guide to the Trees of Michigan and the Great Lakes Region – an Opera in 11 Parts”!\n\n\nMichigan Trees: A Guide to the Trees of Michigan and the Great Lakes Region – an Opera in 11 Parts has a libretto and music by Grey Grant\, and is directed and conducted by Karl Ronneburg.  \nThe production was staged and premiered at the Ypsilanti Freighthouse on August 28-29\, 2019. This special streaming event is the official release of the videorecording from that premiere production! On April 20th starting at 7pm\, we will host an “opening night” event where we will stream the full opera\, followed by a talkback with the creative team and cast which will take place via Zoom. The production will then be available for viewing on-demand until April 27th. \nAbout the show: \nMichigan Trees: A Guide to the Trees of Michigan and the Great Lakes Region is a new folk opera for classical and folk vocalists\, steeped in mythos and Michigan\, all the while remaining relevant to the present-day experiences of trans folks. In the opera\, we follow the journey of Orna\, a trans-woman\, as she grapples with self-acceptance. DESCRIPTION:Camping Debbie’s and Kevin’s in SW Michigan \nDates: Friday\, April 23 to Sunday\, April 25. \nAverage temperature this time of year is a daytime high of Low 60’s and nighttime low of 40’s. \nDebbie and I would like to invite you for a camping weekend at our place. We are planning a few hikes. You may hike\, paddle\, or explore SW Michigan (There are many wineries\, breweries\, and distilleries in the area.). We are 13 miles from downtown St. Joseph and 13 miles from downtown South Haven. Don’t feel like exploring\, then hang out at the campsite for the day. We are 101 miles from Chicago. \nWe will be camping in the wooded area at the back of the property. It is a really nice area to camp. We have almost 2 miles of hiking trails on the property. Electricity/Showers are not available. We will have a porta-potty. \nSaturday morning\, I’ll provide a pancake breakfast. Then I will be leading a hike. \nWe will have a potluck Saturday evening.
